UPPER WEST SIDE CLASSIC 6
This owners of this classic six pre-war apartment were hoping to renovate their kitchen and bathroom while incorporating a washer/dryer — an upgrade that required both functional and aesthetic enhancements. Their existing kitchen was discretely closed off from the adjacent living and dining areas, and they were hoping for a design transformation that might allow for more fluidity between their entertainment spaces.
Hence, we proposed an “aperture” scheme which strategically opened up one corner of the kitchen to create a visual and spatial connection between the rooms. This subtle yet impactful intervention maintained the integrity of the kitchen while allowing it to function as a framed window into the surrounding spaces - fostering openness without sacrificing definition. The material palette was carefully curated to exude warmth and calm, with clean lines and detailing ensuring both beauty and functionality. The renovation also required an electrical service upgrade to support the modern conveniences of a washer/dryer, an induction cooktop, and double ovens.
In the bathroom, we created a spa-like feel for relaxation and renewal, aiming to evoke a sense of calm and understated elegance.
